Yoga means union – the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.
Through physical postures, stretching, and breathwork, yoga seeks to quiet the mind and settle the body. Yoga can be a primarily physical practice, as it is often seen in the West, or a deeply spiritual experience.
The benefits of yoga are many, and include increased flexibility, greater ease of movement, pain management, increased strength, freer breathing, body awareness, mental focus, and deep relaxation.
The Spa Room offers both small group yoga classes and one-on-one yoga instruction.
Marissa primarily teaches and practices yin yoga.
